Debbie’s
Story
My life has changed in a very positive way since I came
to The Sheepfold. I’ve accepted Christ and have
surrendered to him. That was the best day of my life.
Because of domestic violence, my children and I were
depressed and scared. I made a decision to finally leave
the relationship. Two months later, I became homeless.
My husband refused to help with rent or food. Friends
helped for a few days, but my help ran out, and so did
my options.
I slept in my car some nights until my car got repossessed
and then I was really lost. When all help was gone, the
pastor at the church I was supposed to be going to left
a message with someone I knew about The Sheepfold. I
called and talked to a very nice lady who told me about
the shelter. The next day I went to the office and was
told there was room for my children and me. I cried tears
of joy. Something deep down inside told me everything
was going to be okay.
Now that my children and I have been here, I see how
our lives have changed. We are so blessed to be in such
a loving place that feels like “home.” All
the house mothers are very kind, encouraging, and giving
us love that my children and I never felt before. We’re
learning how life should really be.
Living with Jesus on my side is wonderful! He’s
working in my life and really making my dreams come true.
I understand that I’m his child and he sent me
here to heal, grow and be loved.
The Sheepfold has been the greatest thing that the Lord
has blessed me with. All of our needs are taken care
of. I attend church every Sunday and have daily bible
study—which I love! My children are safe, happy,
healthy and doing much better in all areas of their lives
as well. The mentors really help them feel important
and they have so much fun with them.
I’m very thankful and appreciative towards the
help and love that this ministry provides. I love being
a resident of The Sheepfold and I know that I’m
going to make it!
Thank you, Jesus!
