Samantha's Story

My life for the last 5 years has been a mess. It began with verbal abuse, which I was quick to excuse away. Then came the physical, emotional, sexual and monetary abuse. I prayed to God asking him to help me, and He did. I first went into a 30-day emergency shelter, starting the healing process from the physical and mental violence. As my time was coming to an end at the 30-day facility, my case manager gave me the number of the Sheepfold. I see now how the Lord was moving in my life, allowing me to be accepted into the Sheepfold program.

When I entered the shelter, I was surprised at how beautiful it was. I didn't think I could connect with these women. However, as we talked, I realized how similar we all really were. We all connected easily and became like a family. It all finally hit me that God has always been with me, watching over me and my children.

I also have House Managers who are very loving, understanding, kind, caring, honest, uplifting, fun, and experienced in the Word. They are from all different backgrounds, nationalities and have a variety of personalities, but they all have the same message, "God loves you, He has forgiven you and He has sent His only Son to die on the cross for you."

I have been extremely blessed since coming to the Sheepfold. I have also been blessed by a generous donor with a car and I now have a new great paying job. I have peace, love, and a new outlook on life with hope for a wonderful future through Christ who is in me. I am incredibly grateful to the Lord and to the Sheepfold!

Summer Gardening

We love to garden at the Sheepfold. Our families had a wonderful time tending to their gardens this summer.

Gardening is such a fun and educational activity for our mothers and children to partake in. Each of our shelters has a small garden where we grow fresh herbs and vegetables for the home. We love being able to plant, tend and then enjoy healthy, nutritious food that we had the joy of growing ourselves.

Bon Appetite!

Come Serve with Us!

We are looking for some wonderful, hardworking groups of volunteers to come and serve with us. We have so many wonderful volunteer opportunities for small groups, youth groups or a group from your workplace. Our shelters would love your help with some gardening, organizing, providing dinner for the house, or detail cleaning of the home or van.

We also have some fun opportunities for your group to serve at our thrift store. Our store is a great spot for groups to help our thrift store staff collect, sort and organize donations.

We always have a lot going on in our shelters and store and look forward to having some extra hands to help us out. If you are interested in bringing a group to serve with us we would love to hear from you. Simply contact Isela, our Volunteer Coordinator at Isela@thesheepfold.org for more information in scheduling a group to come and serve.

Holiday Party Boxes

Would you like to help our shelters celebrate the holidays? We have a fun way to get involved and bring a little holiday fun to our shelters:

Holiday Party Boxes are festive little boxes filled with décor items to celebrate a major holiday. For example: July 4th, Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Mother's Day, St. Patrick's Day, and New Years Eve.

Items in these boxes could include table clothes, plates, banners, and other festive décor items to make the shelter feel special for the holidays.

For more details, please call our office at 714-237-1444, or email us at christinacruz@thesheepfold.org.
