Our parents don't name us.
We don't name ourselves.
God names us before we were even
woven together in our mother's womb.
Jesus anoints us “son” and “daughter”
and brings us into His family, under His wing.
My family named me unwanted,
left behind, unloved, unprotected, forgotten.
Jesus names me Daughter,
loved, wanted, celebrated, and blessed.
The world named me worthless,
broken, and used.
Jesus calls me Daughter, protected,
precious, gifted, worthy, and gave me life.
I'm so grateful God came to me.
I'm so grateful that when I turned to Him,
He was already running toward me.
He gave me a purpose
within the body of Christ.
He has given me a home to rest and heal.
He's taken a horror story and turned
it into a life blessed through the Sheepfold.
He is building me up here,
restoring what the locusts have eaten,
and showing me what it means to be “daughter”
to a good and loving Father
inside of a new family.
Father, Immanuel, Prince of Peace,
Lion of Judah, my protector and my friend,
my life and heart are His.
